Garrett Gerloff will join the Puccetti Kawasaki World Superbike squad in 2025 as part of a one-bike effort.

The American made his WSBK debut in 2020 with Yamaha at the GRT squad and managed three podiums in his first season, scoring three more across his final two years with the Japanese brand.

A move to BMW with the Bonovo Action team followed in 2023, though he has since struggled to replicate the form he showed on the Yamaha with a best of fourth on three occasions last year.

Gerloff became linked to Puccetti following the Bonovo squad’s announcement that it would be quitting the championship at the end of the current season in June.

Ahead of this weekend’s Portimao round of the 2024 campaign, Puccetti announced it had signed Gerloff for 2025 to ride current-spec Kawasaki ZX-10RR machinery.

Speaking about the news, team owner Manuel Puccetti said: “On behalf of myself and my team – as well as my sponsors and my family – I would like to express what an honour and privilege this is.

“Since my first days in racing I personally appreciate the elements that make a rider or team successful.

“I started racing on a 125cc production machine in an Italian cup race in the late 1990s and by 2002 I had taken the challenging step to become a team owner.

“Just one truck, some motorcycles and a loyal group of sponsors to start with.

“Yet, from these beginnings, we worked and worked to become what we are now; a team with World, European and National Championships to our credit and a success record that includes over 120 podiums.

“In 2025, we will field current season KRT Ninja ZX-10RR machinery and I can only say this is a dream come true.

“Rest assured we will do our best to fulfil the ambitions of Ninja fans across the world in the coming season. We are truly honoured.”    

Gerloff currently sits 13th in the championship on 50 points.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi had been in contention for a Puccetti ride, as had British Superbike star Ryan Vickers before Gerloff got the nod.

It is unclear what the future holds for current Puccetti rider Tito Rabat, who has endured a tough 2024 having scored just six points.

The 2019 Drift Masters European Championship is live on Red Bull TV. But what is drifting, how do drivers win and why does no one overtake? If you need drifting explained, read on.
As one half of the Red Bull Driftbrothers, Johannes ‘Joe’ Hountondji is one of drifting’s best-known drivers. He loves the sport, but even he will tell you that “drifting is not the easiest sport to understand.”
It is, however, one of the most exciting (and fastest growing) disciplines in motorsport, demanding the perfect balance of speed, style and fearlessness from its drivers. As Joe says, competitors go “man against man, machine against machine, mano e mano, head to head.”
Drifting is, essentially, the art of getting cars to travel forwards, but sideways, as fast as possible through turns, so that once drivers are out of a corner they can quickly accelerate away. But attempting to control a car when its tyres aren’t gripping the road means “battling the laws of physics to the fullest extent,” says Elias.
As any petrolhead will know, you can make cars go sideways by either locking up the rear wheels, speeding them up or playing with weight transfer. For beginners, the simplest way of drifting is, says Elias, “to go for a turn and pull the brake; the rear wheels will lock up, and then you just slowly put on angle as much as you like, then slowly release the brake, step on the throttle and hold the grip.”
The pros have a multitude of different drifting styles and techniques involving clutches and brakes, and will drift through successive turns without their wheels gripping the road.
The Drift Masters European Championship is, in some ways, more like ice skating than motorsport racing – and not just because its cars look like they’re sliding all over the place. The sport is actually all about scoring points. In the DMEC, three judges are on hand to score every run by four criteria, these being…
Speed: The faster a driver takes a corner, the better. However, the challenge is keeping that speed up while also performing the best angle.
Angle: This means swinging the car’s back end out as far as possible (ie, going sideways), for as long as possible. “But the more angle you put on,” explains Joe, “at some point you’re going to slow the car down.” Basically, drivers want to go as fast as possible while also travelling sideways.
Line: This means travelling as close to the judges’ predefined racing line as possible. This line is marked by clipping points and clipping zones – clipping points are mostly on the inside of turns, while clipping zones are on the outside. The aim is to keep the car’s nose as close to the clipping points as possible, while also keeping the rear as tight as possible to the clipping zone.
Style: As if there’s not already enough for drivers to think about, they must also achieve all of the above with as much style, aggression and showmanship as possible. Burning rubber is very much encouraged.
Judges can award a maximum of 100 points for each run.
Every round of DMEC starts with qualifying, which means every driver takes two solo runs. The above scoring system applies, but drivers need to find the right balance between points-scoring and keeping themselves in the game.
“You get two tries and that either takes you through to the battles, or it’s the end of your weekend,” explains Joe. “You can either go all-out on your first lap and if you mess it up, you have one to go. Or you can go easy on the first lap, then all-out in the second. Then you have a sort of safe one in the books.”
Drivers who don’t score enough points are sent packing. Those that do proceed into the tandem runs – battles between a lead car and chase car. For most drifting drivers, these are what define the sport.

We’re back with another action packed episode of the MotoGP Inside Pass vlog hosted by Vanessa Guerra! In todays show Vanessa visits the home of Red Bull to meet Mirko Flaim, Red Bull Helicopter Aerobatic Pilot, to introduce us to some of the Red Bull aircraft fleet, and to take a joyride in his helicopter. Vanessa handles the g-forces like a champion and enjoys the spectacular airborne manoeuvres.
Landing at the headquarters of the KTM Factory Racing Team, Vanessa chats with some of the team riders while they take care of some PR duties. Riders swap their racing leathers for tools and attempt to be a mechanic for the day. Better stick to the track guys.
Vanessa asks some of the riders what they like most about the race circuit, including Jack Miller, Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez (Marc scored his 59th pole position this weekend), before meeting Dani Pedrosa for a hot lap of the track in the new BMW Safety Car. Dani provides some unique rider insight about the track.
Next, Pedro Acosta meets up with our host Vanessa to introduce the young future talent of MotoGP to Miguel Oliveira who rides for the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 team. The pair compare notes about their respective bikes and talk about what it takes to be a top class rider, with Miguel providing some valuable advice. Acosta did really well in this race and you can watch the replay of the Rookies Cup races at the link at the top of the description.

After 10 regional qualifiers across the Middle East and North Africa it’s finally time to crown another King Of Drift. The grand finale of Red Bull Car Park Drift – the premier drifting series in the region – took place on September 1 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Drifting might be one of fastest-growing disciplines in motorsport, but for many petrol heads, it’s still a brand-new sport. So ahead of the rubber-burning cacophony that is Red Bull Car Park Drift, we run through what makes the series one of drifting’s most exciting competitions and explain how it differs to other series.

What is drifting?
Despite their many differences, Red Bull Car Park Drift and the Drift Masters European Championship evolved from the same concept. In late-1970s and early-’80s Japan, daredevil drivers started putting their cars to the test on twisting mountain roads, accelerating out of corners earlier and earlier to turn their cars sideways. This quickly morphed into a popular sport in Japan and huge crowds have gathered to watch organised competition ever since.
Slowly but surely, this fast, noisy and technical discipline has caught on around the world and is currently spreading like wildfire across Europe and the Middle East.

Is Red Bull Car Park Drift the same as the Drift Masters European Championship, then?
Not really. In Europe, drifting gave rise to the Drift Masters European Championship – an established series that, without compromising on excitement or danger, has organised the drifting concept into a championship series that involves an element of racing (but not overtaking). Red Bull Car Park Drift, on the other hand, is its edgier counterpart.
Inspired by the amateur, do-it-yourself drifting scene that took place (mostly illegally) in tightly enclosed Hong Kong car parks in the early-2000s, Red Bull Car Park Drift is an attempt to retain some of the underground spirit and artistry of those drifting rebels.
The Middle East and North African-based series started life, as you might have guessed from the name, in car parks. Like the Citymall car park in El Bauchrieh, Lebanon, which hosted the first-ever Red Bull Car Park Drift in 2008, won by Michel Feghali.
Although the series’ popularity has meant a move away from car parks, it remains a great leveller, pitting underground drifters against more experienced divers and rally stars.

What’s the format of Red Bull Car Park Drift?
In the Drift Masters European Championship, drivers take two solo runs before a final battle with another driver, with points awarded for speed, style, and both angle and line of drift. It’s all quite straightforward really.
Red Bull Car Park Drift is, in comparison, completely bonkers. Inspired by those Hong Kong drifters navigating the tight corners and concrete posts and bollards of multi-storey car parks, this series is all about speeding around obstacle-strewn courses and performing drifting ‘tricks’ and tasks with names like the ‘pendulum’, the ‘spiral’, the ‘gate’ and the ‘flipper’, while attempting to impress a judging panel and claim as many of the 400 points on offer as possible.
As well as scoring for their drifting skills, drivers are also rewarded for how good their cars look, how they sound and how much tyre smoke they kick up. Each run culminates in ‘the box’, where drivers need to ‘doughnut’ and drift around a tiny square enclosure with obstacles in. Points are deducted if drivers spin, drift the wrong way, or hit an obstacle. Three penalties and they’re out.
There might not be any of the heart-in-mouth battles seen in the Drift Masters European Championship, but the complexity of drifting – at speed – is still something to behold.

Any other differences?
Because of those tight, coned-off courses and trick tasks that need completing, Red Bull Car Park Drift drivers require smaller and more agile cars than those used in the Drift Masters European Championship. They still need front-engine, rear-wheel machines, but the cars favoured by drivers in this series include the BMW 3-Series E36, the Toyota AE86, one of the cars that started the drifting phenomenon in Japan, and the Nissan 370Z coupé.
